چکیده
Powdery mildew is a devastating disease of melon worldwide. Safe guarding the production requires to tackle this disease, either by chemical control or developing resistant cultivars with latter being most sustainable, inexpensive and environmentally friendly approach. The use genetic resistance safe alternative overcome hazardous contaminants. Thus, in present study 56 landraces were evaluated for their response powdery set agro-morphological quality traits. results showed that 4 highly mildew, low symptoms incidence not exceeding 10%, 11 moderately resistant. assessment selected fruit weight ranged between 433 1300 g total soluble solids ranging 7.93 13.57 °Brix. This local germplasm great potential should be exploited as sources future breeding programs.

Whole Genome Re-Sequencing and Characterization of Powdery Mildew Disease-Associated Allelic Variation in Melon
Powdery mildew is one of the most common fungal diseases in the world. This disease frequently affects melon (Cucumis melo L.) and other Cucurbitaceous family crops in both open field and greenhouse cultivation. One of the goals of genomics is to identify the polymorphic loci responsible for variation in phenotypic traits. In this study, powdery mildew disease assessment scores were calculated ...
متن کاملPowdery mildew (Sphaerotheca fuliginea) resistance in melon is selectable at the haploid level.
The major cause of powdery mildew in melons (Cucumis melo L.) is the fungus Sphaerotheca fuliginea. There are several cultivar- and season-specific races of this fungus. In order to control powdery mildew, it is important to introduce resistance to fungal infection into new cultivars during melon breeding. Haploid breeding is a powerful tool for the production of pure lines. In this study, it w...
متن کاملTowards Positional Isolation of Three Quantitative Trait Loci Conferring Resistance to Powdery Mildew in Two Spanish Barley Landraces
Three quantitative trait loci (QTL) conferring broad spectrum resistance to powdery mildew, caused by the fungus Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei, were previously identified on chromosomes 7HS, 7HL and 6HL in the Spanish barley landrace-derived lines SBCC097 and SBCC145. In the present work, a genome-wide putative linear gene index of barley (Genome Zipper) and the first draft of the physical, g...

متن کاملAn Arabidopsis mutant with enhanced resistance to powdery mildew.
We have identified an Arabidopsis mutant that displays enhanced disease resistance to the fungus Erysiphe cichoracearum, causal agent of powdery mildew. The edr1 mutant does not constitutively express the pathogenesis-related genes PR-1, BGL2, or PR-5 and thus differs from previously described disease-resistant mutants of Arabidopsis. E. cichoracearum conidia (asexual spores) germinated normall...
